Memo
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation amending Title 75, Section 1792, by eliminating 1) mandatory deductibles for collision coverage in auto insurance policies, and 2) the requirement of a signed statement by a consumer when selecting a deductible under $500.  This legislation will give consumers the option of selecting any deductible level they want, including a $0 deductible, and will reduce an administrative burden.

Due to the reforms contained in Act 6, consumers in PA are benefitting from a very competitive auto market with one exception – no consumer in PA can benefit from a $0 deductible.  Unlike consumers in other states who are being offered auto coverage with vanishing deductibles, as you may have seen in television ads, consumers in PA are burdened with mandatory deductible requirements.  I would like to change that by amending an outdated provision of law.

Please join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation.
