Memo
In the near future, I plan to offer legislation that further honors our active duty and veteran military personnel by reducing or eliminating the cost of using the Pennsylvania Turnpike.
Under my proposed bill, active duty military personnel would be granted free use of the Pennsylvania Turnpike through the EZ Pass system. In addition, veterans would be receive a 50% discount reduction in the toll rate for their use of the turnpike through EZ Pass.

In order to qualify, active duty and veteran military personnel would be required to (a) be a resident of Pennsylvania, (b) have a valid EZ Pass account, (c) submit a commission-approved application for approval by the Turnpike Commission, (d) submit documentation proving their active duty or veteran status and (e) sign an affidavit stating that they will not be involved in any fraudulent activity regarding their EZ Pass.
Several states already provide this type of benefit to veterans. Please join me in adding Pennsylvania to this list as we seek to further honor our veterans for their service to our country.
