Abolish Practice of Providing State Paid Vehicles to Legislators

In the near future, I will introduce legislation to abolish the practice of providing state paid vehicles to legislators.
Currently, there are about 20 State Representatives that have state leased cars and approximately 183 Representatives use their own vehicles. Per the Legislative Handbook that all Members recently received, executive-level sedans, minivans, 4X4 SUVs, and hybrids costing up to $650 per month can be provided to State Representatives. These vehicles can be used for campaign purposes, for personal use and also for official state business.
If 90% of the miles driven on these vehicles are logged as "official business," taxpayers pay for 90% of the lease payment, insurance, gas, car washes, repairs, tires, etc. There is currently not a way to monitor these miles to ensure that personal mileage and campaign mileage is not mistakenly logged as business mileage. It is also an unnecessary liability exposure to risk an accident in a state vehicle being used for personal business. This is also a very expensive program to maintain for the 10% of Members who actually use it.
