Memo
In the near future I will be reintroducing legislation to allow an owner of a licensed cosmetology salon who decides to restrict their services to limited license services such as esthetics or nail technology, to continue operating under the current salon license until its expiration.

Currently, the State Board of Cosmetology regulations (49 Pa. Code, Chapter 7) specify the equipment and supplies required to be maintained in cosmetology salons and limited license salons.  If an owner of a cosmetology salon decides to limit their services by offering only limited license services and no longer maintains all of the equipment and supplies specified for the full cosmetology salon, they are required to obtain a new limited salon license.

My legislation would allow continued operation under the existing cosmetology salon license until its expiration, and only at that point would the owner be required to obtain the applicable limited salon license.  I believe this is a reasonable and commonsense amendment to the Cosmetology Law.
