Memo
.
Currently, state law allows for compliance checks in order to prevent underage drinking. These compliance checks allow trained underage agents for the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement of the PA State Police to attempt to purchase alcohol. The checks are an important part of preventing minors from the underage consumption of alcohol, and deterring merchants from inducing minors to consume alcohol.
Unfortunately, the statutory authority for these compliance checks will sunset on December 31, 2017. I will be introducing a bill to repeal that sunset date in order to ensure that our State Police can continue to conduct these important checks.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation.
