Memo
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation that will update Pennsylvania’s hate crime statute.
Right now, that law provides stiffer penalties when a crime is committed against another motivated by hatred for the victim’s race, color, religion or national origin. As recent events have shown, I believe those who are victimized because of their mental or physical disability, sexual orientation or sexual identification also deserve to be protected under this important law.
I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this legislation so we can update Pennsylvania’s hate crime law to protect our citizens from crimes of hate and bias.
