Memo
It is an unfortunate fact of life that thousands of Pennsylvanians hold jobs with rigid schedules, long commutes, and lengthy workdays. For these employees, polling places open after they've already left for work and close before they can return home, leaving them without the opportunity to exercise their basic right to vote.

First, my legislation will make the days when primary and general elections are held legal holidays in Pennsylvania for public employers. Second, my legislation would require private employers to give no less than two hours of unpaid time off in order for their employees to vote.

It's wrong that thousands of these people are deprived of one of their most fundamental rights as American citizens, and it is time to take action. Please join me in supporting this important legislation.
