Taxing Political Advertisments

Representative Anthony DeLuca
D House District 32
Memo
It is estimated that the Senate race between Katie McGinty and Senator Pat Toomey was the most expensive Senate race ever, with over $165 million dollars spent.
This is a staggering amount of money. In times where many of us are tightening our belts, it seems as though there is plenty of money for political advertisements.
While this advertising is essential and free speech, it should be subject to the six percent sales and use tax as well, so as to benefit our state. I am sure that our constituents would agree enthusiastically that political advertising should be included among taxable items.
Last session this was House Bill 464.
Thanks for your support in this proposal.
