Memo
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce legislation to add pain management clinics to the list of health care facilities regulated by the Department of Health.

Pennsylvania currently leads the nation in overdose deaths.  In an effort to help address this growing epidemic facing the Commonwealth, I intend to re-introduce legislation that will regulate pain management clinics in Pennsylvania.  Under my proposal, pain management clinics will be required to register with the Department of Health and will be subject to specific requirements.

This legislation was introduced last session as House Bill 1043 and passed the House 191-0.

It is my hope that by re-introducing this very important legislation, it will help prevent the diversion, misuse and abuse of controlled substances.  It is vital that we seek to ensure that patients suffering from chronic pain get the relief they need while also minimizing the potential for harmful consequences.

I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important proposal.
