Memo
Telemedicine is playing an increasingly important role in how Pennsylvanians access health care during this COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier in this session, the General Assembly came close to passing language (Senate Bill 857) that provided for regulation and insurance coverage of telemedicine. Unfortunately, that bill received a controversial political amendment, and the bill's prospects are now uncertain.

The health of Pennsylvanians must not be delayed during this crisis. Therefore, I will be introducing legislation that is effectively Senate Bill 857 without the controversial political language. In addition, my bill improves upon Senate Bill 857 by providing for reimbursement of telemedicine charges by the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and by ensuring that providers do not receive reduced compensation from insurance companies for providing COVID-19-related services via telemedicine.

I ask you to support your fellow Pennsylvanians as we confront a new reality by sponsoring this bill. Thank you.
