I will introduce legislation that amends the County Code to require the Governor to appoint a District Attorney in Philadelphia County.
Additionally, my bill adds to the qualifications for the Office of District Attorney of Philadelphia to require that the district attorney shall have had five years of experience as a prosecutor in Pennsylvania and have at least a one-year residency in Philadelphia County. Providing some guidelines as to whom the Governor may appoint to this position.
This legislation will help ensure that the office of district attorney operates as a professional entity capable of serving the residents of the city and this Commonwealth.
