Memo
Nothing is more terrifying during the COVID-19 crisis than the idea of not being able to supply our families with food. We have always taken for granted that our grocery stores would be well-stocked, and that food would be readily available everyday.

Our essential workers in the agriculture and food industries are working hard to keep us fed, but in food processing plants located throughout our country, many of the workers have been infected with COVID-19, sometimes causing plants to close temporarily, putting more people at risk of going hungry.

We need to help these workers and their employers, which is why I will be introducing legislation that would provide for a Food Establishment Pandemic Disease Remediation Cost Reimbursement Grant Program. This program would help food establishments that are struggling financially due to the measures they have taken to keep their employees and our food supply safe. I believe it is vital that we do everything necessary to provide food establishment workers with the protection they deserve as they continue to ensure that our citizens receive life-sustaining food everyday.

Please join me in this fight against COVID-19 and hunger.
