Memo
In the near future, I plan to introduce legislation amending the Cosmetology Law of 1933 to permit booth rental in salons.
Currently in Pennsylvania, licensed barbers have the ability to rent chairs and booths to other licensed barbers who desire to open their own business and establish their own book of clientele. Unfortunately, due to a prohibition in the Cosmetology Law, cosmetologists are not provided this same opportunity and are not allowed to offer booth or chair rental to enterprising stylists who seek to start a business.
My legislation will eliminate the disparities between the law governing barbers and cosmetologists, putting licensed cosmetologists on the same business and regulatory footing as licensed barbers. I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this legislation. Thank you in advance for your support and consideration.
