Memo
As the negative effects of climate change increasingly impact our society, it is in our best interests to take a more serious and aggressive approach to slowing and, eventually, halting these effects. Part of this effort must include an increased use of renewable energy on both a large and small scale. One way individual homeowners can help in this fight is to switch their energy systems to solar power which, in turn, would allow us to use less energy produced from traditional fossil fuels.
For many homeowners, installing a solar energy system can be cost-prohibitive. To combat this, I will be proposing legislation to exempt homeowners from 100 percent of the sales tax associated with the installation, maintenance, or repair of solar energy devices. By making these systems more affordable, we could help to invest in more solar power throughout the Commonwealth and begin to make a difference in the fight against climate change.
Please join me in sponsoring this important legislation.
