Memo
Following the Supreme Court’s abominable Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health decision earlier this year, which has ushered in a new national patchwork of varying abortion rights by state, it has become imperative that we secure Pennsylvanians’ reproductive health care rights.

Ironically, the law that is now preserving these rights in Pennsylvania is known as “The Abortion Control Act,” passed in the 1980s with the goal of restricting access to abortion. Repeatedly amended with numerous burdens, such as waiting periods, spousal and parental notifications, each time chiseling away the freedom of self-determination and bodily autonomy that we hold so dear.

I will soon re-introduce a bill to repeal the entirety of the present Abortion Control Act, replacing it with the Bodily Autonomy Act, a very thorough rewrite of existing law that undoes all of the unnecessary restrictions on access to care, adds affirmative protections for the right to choose, and continues to ensure that all procedures are done safely.

Please join me in co-sponsoring The Bodily Autonomy Act.
