Pennsylvania state law requires the General Assembly to enact legislation to give a raise to retired public school employees. We are all keenly aware of the rate of inflation. Bear in mind that these retired educators and school personnel have not received a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) in over 20 years.
I believe we have a responsibility to ensure that educators who gave so much to their communities can afford to live with dignity in retirement. I am, therefore, introducing legislation that would provide retired public-school employees with a long overdue COLA.
