Memo
Our current laws do not afford us the ability to fulfill the Pennsylvania Constitution’s right to clean air, pure water and the protection of our natural resources.

Without a referral from a local district attorney, the Department of Environmental Protection or another agency with jurisdiction, the Attorney General’s office cannot pursue bad actors who pollute and contaminate our air, water, and natural resources. Senators Santarsiero and Collett are introducing three bills which would provide the Attorney General with concurrent jurisdiction in environmental crimes under Pennsylvania’s Solid Waste Management Act, Clean Streams Law, and Safe Drinking Water Act. I will be introducing companion legislation to all three of these bills.

Please join me in ensuring environmental bad actors are held accountable and in protecting our beautiful commonwealth.
Legislation
Document 1 - Introduced as HB 1822
The first bill will amend the Solid Waste Management Act to provide the Attorney General with concurrent jurisdiction in related environmental crimes.
Document 2 - Introduced as HB 1821
The second bill will amend The Clean Streams Law to provide the Attorney General with concurrent jurisdiction in related environmental crimes.
Document 3 - Introduced as HB 1823
The third bill will amend the Pennsylvania Safe Drinking Water Act to provide the Attorney General with concurrent jurisdiction in related environmental crimes.
