Memo
In the coming days, I plan to introduce legislation to increase funding for the Educational Improvement Tax Credit program and update the language relating to scholarships awarded to students attending an economically disadvantaged school.

Last year, the EITC program was expanded to include additional scholarship awards to students attending an economically disadvantaged school. My legislation will qualify more pre-k, kindergarten, and elementary school scholarships for students attending an economically disadvantaged school by:
  • Updating the scholarship amount received by prekindergarten, kindergarten, and elementary school students to meet the qualifications of an economically disadvantaged school from $1000 to $500.
  • Increasing funding for the EITC program, with an important increase for economically disadvantaged school scholarships.
  • Streamlining the scholarship distribution and reporting timeline between economically disadvantaged schools, scholarship organizations and DCED.

These changes will help the program run more efficiently, provide additional resources to help give Pennsylvania families the ability to send their child to a school that best fits their needs, especially those attending economically disadvantaged schools.

Please join me in cosponsoring this important legislation.
