I am reintroducing legislation that amends Title 75 (Vehicles) of Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes. Under this legislation, Section 1510 (b) will be amended to allow the issuance of identification cards to individuals one year or older. This was Senate Bill 1024 of the 2011-12 session of the General Assembly.
Identification cards are increasingly needed for a variety of reasons, including security clearances, identification for youth sports leagues and school functions. They can be used in place of a Social Security card or birth certificate. This has spurred an increase in requests for identification cards, especially for young people. Maryland, for example, has no minimum age requirement for the issuance of identification cards.
Senators who co-sponsored Senate Bill 1024 were Alloway, Brubaker, Erickson, Fontana and Solobay.
