County Corrections Officers Bill of Rights

Memo
In the near future, I will introduce legislation creating the County Corrections Officers Bill of Rights. This legislation will ensure that county corrections officers maintain certain rights and will provide them with the ability to appeal during disciplinary proceedings.
I introduced similar legislation in the previous session which would have established a State Corrections Officers Bill of Rights. I believe we should extend those same rights to public servants who protect us at our county correctional facilities.
I strongly believe any corrections officer found guilty of a crime should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law; however, this legislation will guarantee preservation of the constitutional rights for our county corrections officers.
