R Senate District 26
Memo
In the near future, I plan to reintroduce Senate Bill 736 of 2015, legislation that will enable Self Storage proprietors to sell content insurance. Consumers and Self Storage proprietors have been asking for the ability to purchase and sell content insurance at the time of the rental contract agreement. Content insurance would cover the loss or damage of items put into storage by the individual renter.
The Self Storage Unit proprietor would have to obtain a limited insurance license in connection with the rental agreement. The license and policy would cover the loss or damage to personal property stored at the storage facility. The legislation will also have numerous consumer protection standards and disclosures that the proprietor must adhere to.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation and if you have any questions contact Daena Prinsen from my office at dprinsen@pasen.gov.
