Allowing the state to sell naming rights to rehabilitate existing state-owned office space

I plan to reintroduce legislation that will reform the way the Commonwealth uses under-utilized and unutilized state-owned office space. Many office spaces throughout Harrisburg are empty due to the high costs it would take to clean up and refurbish those spaces. If we want to be responsible stewards of the taxpayer, we must address this issue immediately.
My bill would also require the Department of General Services to sell the naming rights of most state-owned facilities and the revenue generated would be deposited into a restricted account that will fund the rehabilitation of state-owned facilities. Under my bill, it would also require the department to provide an annual report to both the Senate and House State Government Committees detailing how that funding was utilized.
Passing this bill into law would allow the state to rely less on office leases in areas where office space is already owned. It will also save tax dollars by moving employees from leased spaces into space already owned by the state and the taxpayer.
