Memo
In January 2019, Pennsylvania turnpike tolls increased for the 11th consecutive year – rising 6 percent – and they will continue to be raised every year until 2044. Not only are our high toll rates driving businesses away, they’ve become a real hardship for commuters and working families.

In an effort to alleviate some of the burden placed on those Pennsylvania-based drivers and businesses whose tolls are used to build roads and bridges across the Commonwealth, I plan to introduce legislation to create the Commuter and Commerce Toll Tax Credit. Specifically, my legislation would offer a 50 percent tax credit for tolls paid with a $500 cap per filer.

Additionally, the tax credit will be extended to Pennsylvania residents and Pennsylvania-based companies that shoulder an additional cost when accessing the toll bridges operated under the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, the Burlington County Bridge Commission and the Delaware River Port Authority of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

Please join me in supporting this fair-minded legislation.
