“Drinking Water Week” in Pennsylvania

Senator Gene Yaw
R Senate District 23
Memo
In the near future, I will be offering a resolution recognizing the week of May 5 through May 11, 2019 as “Drinking Water Week” in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania is blessed with fresh water resources that are scarce in many parts of the world, including our own nation. Because drinking water is so readily available to us, we often take for granted the significance of this valuable resource.
Water conservation and water quality maintenance are essential to our longevity. The availability of high quality drinking water to homes and businesses would be lost if not for efforts of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST), the H20 PA Program, and approximately 2,200 community drinking water systems across the Commonwealth.
Please join me in recognizing this important resource and urging all residents of this Commonwealth to protect and conserve our precious drinking water supply.
