Senator James Brewster
D Senate District 45
Memo
In the near future, I plan on reintroducing my reform bills (SBs 731, 732, 733, and 734) from last session. Including COLAs, per diems, leasing of state vehicles, and a gift ban.
Legislation
Document 1 - Introduced as SB 643
The first reform bill will eliminate annual, automatic COLAs. Instead, COLAs will be given once each decade, to the members of the House and Senate, following the decennial U.S. Census.
Document 2 - Introduced as SB 644
The second reform bill will end per diems. Expenses incurred while in the official capacity as an elected official will be reimbursed after proper documentation is submitted.
Document 3 - Introduced as SB 645
The third reform bill will eliminate the leasing of state vehicles to members of the state legislature. My bill does not eliminate reimbursement of expenses/tolls.
Document 4 - Introduced as SB 646
The fourth reform bill will ban gifts for members of the General Assembly. No member may solicit or accept, for their personal use or for another’s use, a gift, favor, entertainment, hospitality, loan or any other item of monetary value.
