Memo
In the near future, we intend to introduce legislation that would suspend the Tavern Gaming License renewal fee for one year.
It will soon be two months since the Governor announced additional capacity restrictions on the liquor licensee community.
Restaurants and taverns have been devastated by this order and are barely hanging on to their livelihoods. These businesses are not only holders of liquor licenses but also a little-known license known as a Tavern Gaming License.
There are only 69 of these licenses statewide, according to LCE officials.
Many of these businesses that currently have the license were shut down – or had limited operations – during the COVID 19 pandemic. We each have constituents who hold a Tavern Gaming License and they are struggling financially.
As a result, we intend to introduce legislation that would suspend for a year the $1,000 renewal fee for these licenses.
We believe this legislation will help businesses who were negatively impacted during the coronavirus pandemic.
We invite you to join us as a co-sponsor.
