Memo
In 2018, Act 86 was signed into law to reduce the number of accidents and fatalities of highway construction workers and motorists by allowing the use of speed cameras in active work zones.
Since then, speeding in work zones dropped by 20% and crashes decreased 19% with fatalities down 6%.
Act 86 also placed speed cameras along Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia, one of the most dangerous roads in the country.
In order to continue this positive progress of making our highway workers and motorists safe, we will introduce legislation to eliminate the sunset dates of Act 86 of 2018.
Please join us in co-sponsoring this life-saving legislation.
