Memo
In the near future, we will introduce a resolution urging Governor Josh Shapiro to join with dozens of governors from across the country in support of Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s actions to protect our citizens and calling on President Biden and our federal officials to help secure our border and provide the needed policies and resources to protect American citizens and communities throughout this country from the effects of illegal immigration.

Many of us are hearing from our constituents who are concerned with this troubling crisis and who have expressed a desire for us to help take a stand against the Biden Administration’s disastrous border policies. This resolution reflects our duty to uphold our oath to support obey and defend the Constitution of the United States and ensure the safety of its citizens.

Under the Biden Administration, the number of migrants who have unlawfully crossed the southern border of Texas has increased at a very alarming rate. During the past couple months, the number exceeds hundreds of thousands of people, overwhelming many border towns and straining government resources all across our country. State and local officials nationwide have sounded the alarm regarding the straining of their resources, the scourge of fentanyl deaths, the tragedy of human trafficking, including children smuggled across the border, and the flow of illegal firearms and dangerous gang members; all exasperated by the disastrous enforcement at our borders by the Biden Administration.

Governor Abbott is clearly exercising his Constitutional authority to defend his state against the consequences of the Biden Administration’s inexcusable indifference toward the suffering its policies are inflicting upon border communities and across this country. These issues have only proceeded to get worse since the beginning of the Biden Presidency, and his failed border strategy has clearly led to this current crisis.  With the security and customs policies placed on American citizens to travel back into our own country, or even fly within it, the Biden Administration’s disregard to what’s flowing unabated across our border is a slap in the face to the American people, and an utter disregard to our citizens’ safety. President Biden is putting our national security at risk.

The resolution will express our support for Texas in its efforts, call on Governor Josh Shapiro to join with governors from across the country in support of Governor Abbott, and call on President Biden and our federal officials to stop fighting against Texas’ efforts and instead commit resources to support Texas in securing the border.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this important resolution.
