Senator Kim Ward
R Senate District 39
Memo
In the near future I will reintroduce Senate Bill 1362 of last session, which amends the Administrative Code to add a new section titled the “State Trooper Services Contractual Program.”
This legislation would allow a municipality or adjacent municipalities which do not have a police force to enter into a contractual arrangement with the Pennsylvania State Police (”PSP”) for state trooper services. Municipalities would enter into agreements requiring payment for services. Payment would be based on labor and benefit costs incurred by the PSP.
Revenue generated through these contracts would be deposited into a restricted revenue account and solely used for the specific services provided in the service agreement. All state troopers assigned pursuant to these agreements shall not be included in determining the PSP’s total number of officers and enlisted members.
Co-sponsors from last session’s bill include Senators: WAUGH, D. WHITE, ARGALL, FONTANA, KASUNIC, ALLOWAY, GREENLEAF and EICHELBERGER.
If you have any questions regarding this legislation, please do not hesitate to contact my office at 717-787-6063.
