Biography
Career
  • Senator Tim Kearney is a longtime community leader in southeastern Pennsylvania, where he and his wife Claudia raised their family and started a small business providing architecture and design services to clients small and large in Delco and beyond. An architect for 36 years, Tim has built houses, college dorms, scientific lab facilities, offices and more, which pushed him into public service through participation in his borough’s planning commission. His work in the community motivated him to serve as a borough mayor and today, as State Senator for the 26th District.
  • As State Senator, Tim has fought for workers and families during the pandemic, calling for investment in workplace safety measures, hazard pay for workers, safe staffing in healthcare, and economic relief and housing assistance for Pennsylvanians. And long before the pandemic, Tim fought for raising the minimum wage for all workers to $15 an hour and against unscrupulous business practices like wage theft and worker misclassification.
  • Tim has introduced legislation to improve public safety, including providing resources and funding to first responders. From pandemics to climate change disasters, he knows that our frontline responders need the support and tools to keep our communities safe. Tim secured funding for Delaware County’s first health department and brought state and county stakeholders together to get public health infrastructure up and running in the midst of the pandemic.
  • The son of a teacher and parent of two public school graduates, Tim believes that every child in the Commonwealth deserves a quality public education and a safe learning environment. During his time in the Senate, the state has increased fair funding for public schools and focused greater investment on school districts serving students with the greatest needs. Having first-hand experience designing school buildings, Tim has championed capital funding for school buildings, to improve classroom crowding conditions and show our kids that we care about them and their future.
  • Tim is proud to provide constituent services through his offices in Media and Upper Darby, as well as mobile office hours throughout Delaware County.
  • He lives in Swarthmore with his wife Claudia, and their covid rescue dog, Chorizo.
